“Gyal a Rider” is Shabeel’s twist on the femme fatale. This new single from Montreal-based dancehall-reggae artist Shabeel is currently hitting the streets in Jamaica with its mix of fast-paced action and melody. The Rider in question is a lady who tolerates no nonsense, has no patience for clingy lovers and is quick to disappear from an uncomfortable situation either on horse or motorcycle. In Shabeel’s own words, everyone loves her beauty, but they’re afraid of her.
The video for “Gyal a Rider” was shot in Montreal and captures the gold-emerald glow of the high fall season. With a rich mix of fields after harvest, lush countryside, tarmac roads and lofty vistas, Shabeel’s Rider will take you along for a ride to remember. On her own terms of course. As her trusted squire, Shabeel will narrate the journey for you and make sure you’re safe. Like all of this artist’s works, “Gyal a Rider” is fantasy dancehall, rich in imagination, high on emotion and finished off with a splash of feminism.
