Written by All the way from Jordan, JAAFAR, one of the most original acts on the pop music scene joins Universal Music MENA to release his new single “Ra7at 3aleki”.
Written and composed by Jaafar, the song has a catchy chorus and a unique sound that is new and fresh; the production was led by the eminent Lebanese producer Hadii Sharara who is best known to intertwine eastern and western beats, evident in the track.
Immediately drawn to its lyrics of the track which are expressed raw and honest, one could get a sense of heartbreak, anger and frustration but also an optimistic feeling of letting go and having fun.
‘Ra7at 3aleki’ has a conversational flare to it, which has become a common style in Jaafar’s work to make his songs more relatable to his listeners. He mentions “there are no frills, just straight to the point lyrics”. We can feel this in ‘Ra7at 3aleki’s music video as well, where Jaafar invites us into a full recording of the clip on his phone. Jaafar is not afraid to give listeners a performance that one could respond to.
Jaafar sings mainly in Arabic with a few drops of words in English, hinting to us the combination of the singer’s ‘best of both worlds’ influences. The songwriter described his experience of working with famed producer Hadii Sharara to be one that challenged and pushed the artist beyond his comfort zone, in which the pair found to be a great experience.
With plans to support the new release by opening for Clean Bandit live in Jordan this April, as well as performing at a launch show in Beirut, Jaafar is building his identity as an artist from East to West, leaving his mark wherever he goes.
