Written by Born and bred in Manchester, Blind Mic is a rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist; raised on the mic of underage raves from the age of 16, the northern musician has become a well-known name in his hometown over the past 6 years and is back with the first single, ‘Like Me’ from his forthcoming album ‘Love & Retribution’. The new album sees 11 tracks written and composed by Mic alongside the finest young jazz and session musicians from the 0161; produced by Zed Bias and backed by Gilles Peterson Future Bubblers campaign, the songwriter has gathered the best local talent and his friends to create his biggest body of work yet.
With a large back catalog of music to boast of and over 150k Spotify streams, Blind Mic has previously collaborated with 0161’s finest; Whilst his last project ‘Codeine Bluez’ featured IAMDDB (who also appears on L&R) over trap-infused beats, his current sound fuses jazz-hop tones with soul,tongue-twisting lyricism and heavy bass, marrying a jazz sensibility with a hip-hop upbringing.
No stranger to the stage with past shows including festivals like Boomtown, Gottwood and Outlook plus support slots for the likes of Talib Kweli and Pharoahe Monch; the upcoming jazz-fusion project takes Blind Mics live performance to the next level, featuring local vocalists LauraELL & Ellen Beth Abdi and backed by the technical skill of his jazz band, they have already taken to the stage at Manchester Jazz Festival and have many more to come including the release of Brownswood Basement session and WorldwideFM live session.
