Written by Brooklyn/San Juan based Balún is a transnational music group that is blending a wide field of genres and cultural influences into a revolutionary and unique sound that evokes both of the bands homes and the distance between them. Heavy doses of tiple, bomba barrel drum, and dembow work alongside loops and layers of shimmering synths to accomplish something explicitly of the island, yet fluent in the language of global pop.
On their upcoming sophomore album “Prisma Tropical”, the band continues to perfect the blend of two different musical cultures into one unique sound! “El Espanto” is the latest single off of this album, and provides a sneak peak at the excellent work Balún has done with the new album.
